In this group exhibition, Yao Hai shows his latest installation "The New Order". It is a playful installation that emphasizes confrontation and intervention in multilateral relations. Yao Hai abandoned a prevailing perspective which sustains the rather harmonized and suppressed point of views. He considers any material as a relational object to other materials. Any Interaction between materials is similar to having dialogues between people. He exploits the instability, contingency, continuity, possibility of materials to generate a new dynamic between each other. This kind of interaction allows closeness and conversation that proceed towards a new aesthetic context in a chaotic way, displaying a never ending always evolving world.
In this installation, the generated wind as a driving force, not only replaces Yao Hai’s body and mind, it also symbolizes his way of opening up objects. The movement of air awakens the objects that are involved - metal pipe, paper, balloons, wood strip and microphone, to begin to create momentum. This approach is much the same as building a new order, or playing a never ending game, and everything is going to evolve randomly from this context.
Under the impact of the air movements, interaction, intervention and collision happen among these objects. They have developed a relationship that is influencing and shaping each other. The motions of these objects reveal sculptural quality that spontaneously constitute an ecosystem.
At this exhibition, viewers can experience a form of performance, a sound-related installation, an experimental theatre and have the possibility of unleashing their imagination.
Yao Hai believes that, these experiences are also exist within the ecosystem. They develop organically, continuously, unpredictably and divinely. The boundaries he questioned and his new understandings are as well collided and dissolved in this ecosystem.
