'Opening up Wasteland' project is an interactive experimental project involving acting, performance, sound, and theater. Artist Yao Hai tries to create a production ecology by interweaving multiple boring behaviors and performance units with materials to explore and test the sensing distance between the body's various sensory systems and art.

 

The project plan of 'Opening up Wasteland' is a collection of the creation concepts of two exhibition projects: 'Reconstruction of Deconstruction' and 'Organic Production'. 'Reconstruction of Deconstruction' focuses on the production relationship between material and physical behavior; while 'Organic Production' takes behavioral performance as the basic language unit, juxtaposed multiple behavioral performances together, and constructed an ecology for producing new language. 'Opening up Wasteland' means that there is nothing there. One has to bring his head, body, and tools to produce everything one needs. During the implementation of this project, the artist will not preset any context in the space in advance. The space is like a blank piece of paper waiting to be depicted, waiting for the performers to bring all the props and instruments into the exhibition space. The performers complete the stage like models walking on the runway, and then entering the state of free performance production in the space.

 

Each performance part of the production is randomly generated along with the appearance of performers. It is also improvisational. There is neither direct correlation between each other, nor clear direction and narrative. This randomness runs through the whole performance, emphasizing a kind of natural generation and fermentation. All the performance parts are like each independent atonal part, which is deduced into a pure production context. As the relationship between the performer and the material object is constantly changing, the context of the space scene will be promoted to transform and change of tone.

 

Yao Hai intends to avoid and confront the habitual identity formed by people in daily life by shaping this boring production system, deliberately creating a kind of disorder, impromptu ambiguity and confusion, trying to get inspiration and new production power in a dynamic path of construction and decomposition. The artist will complete questioning and verification in a process of continuous evolution, and experience the possibility of generating as pure an aesthetic as possible.

 

《開荒》項目計劃是涉獵了表演、行為、聲音和劇場等形式的一個交互實驗項目。姚海試圖將多個無聊的行為和表演單元與材料交集在一起,釀造一種生產的生態,來探討和測試身體的各個感觀系統與藝術之間傳感的距離。

《開荒》項目計劃是集合了花明處解構,矛盾中縫合和《有機生產》兩個展覽項目的創作觀念。《花明處解構,矛盾中縫合》著重探討了材料與身體行為之間的生產關係;《有機生產》 將行為表演作為基礎語言單元,將多個行為表演並置在一起,建構了一個生產新語言的生態。 “開荒”顧名思義是那裏什麽都沒有,妳要帶著腦袋、身體和工具生產妳所需要的一切。在此次項目實施中,藝術家將不會提前在空間內預設任何語境,空間像是一張等待描繪的白紙一樣,等待表演者們將所有的道具器械引入展示空間,表演者們猶如走 T 台的模特兒一樣完成這個環節, 然後在空間內各自進入自由表演生產的狀態。

空間現場構成生產的各個演出部分是伴隨著表演者的出場隨機生成的,也是即興的,相互之間沒有直接的關聯,而且不帶有明確的指向性和敘事性。這種隨機性貫穿著整個演出的始終,現場強調一種自然生成和發酵。所有的行為演出部分都像是每個獨立的無調樂章聲部,各自演繹完成一種純粹的生產文脈。隨著表演者與材料對象之間關係的不斷切換,空間現場的語境將被推動著轉化和變調。

姚海意欲透過塑造這種無聊的生產系統來規避和對抗人們日常形成的慣性認同,有意製造一種無序、即興的模糊和混亂,試圖在一種建構和分解的動態路徑中獲得啟示和新的生產動力。藝術家將在一種不斷演化的過程之中完成質疑和考證,體驗一種盡可能純粹的美學生成可能。
