自由保鮮計劃是藝術家姚海關於個體身份討論的一個項目,也涉及當下全球處於信息爆炸的特殊語境階段,人們自由享用高速信息帶來便利的同時,自由和民主以及那些已經被認同的價值體系卻同步面臨新的挑戰和巨大沖擊,這其中包括那些不被認同的社會系統同樣面臨巨大信息強浪的威脅。
        

姚海產生身份思考的背景源於他自身身份的轉變和多年游歷海外的經歷相關,在不同國度和多元文化的穿行中,個體身份意識漸漸地被凸顯和放大,其中關於身份的認同與被認同就自然而然地連接在一起,形成了更多的質疑和追問。

在具體的項目實施中,姚海借用一種商業行為來梳理和認知社群與個人身份的聯系,他篩選了中國最常見且出現頻率最多的五個政治標語作為商標,將它們印在五個黑色的拳擊沙包上,作為最終由他自己生產的產品,它們分別是“民主牌、和諧牌、自由牌、愛國牌和法治牌” 沙包。產品生成後,姚海對產品進行了 嚴謹的測試和客戶體驗過程,他征集個志願者參與擊打體驗,測試証明質量放心且耐打,其中自由牌沙袋在體驗的過程中展現出了不尋常的性能,一位體驗者出現了嚎啕大哭的情緒。 

姚海為了增強產品的商品特性,他選擇了為它們進行戶外廣告推廣的策略,於是他將五個品牌標語數倍放大印制,將它們安置在台北寶藏巖旅游區高調推廣。一經推出,廣告反響強烈,數日收到了部分民眾的不同質疑,另有部分人士感到不適,其中部分居民詢問相關機構負責人:“是否台灣要變天了?” 等有趣的反饋。
       

此項目計劃藝術家旨在把自我拋置在一些問題和矛盾之中,在問題獲得發展中引發思考和回答。

自由保鮮計劃項目由《我不能證明寶藏巖愛妳們》、《自由保鮮計劃》和《我只愛我的朋友》三件作品組成。

 

Yao Hai’s Freedom Preservation Project explores individual identity as well as the challenges and impact on freedom, democracy and fundamental values of a society in the age of information overload, when people can easily acquire fast changing world of information. Unrecognized social structures are also being threatened without exemption.     

Due to Yao Hai’s own identity change and the experience of travelling overseas for years, the impact of cultural differences on him and the conscious knowledge of individual identity have gradually magnified. More doubts are raised when discussing Identity and recognition.  

 

Yao Hai has a business mindset when carrying out this project. First he searched for five most often seen Chinese’s propaganda slogans, he then painted each punching bag with one of these five slogans. The slogans have become the brand names of these punching bags – Patriotism, Democracy, Freedom, Rule of Law and Harmony. These heavy duty punching bags have passed rigid quality tests. A testing group was invited to test and experience the bags. Of the five punching bags, Freedom gave an extraordinary performance that one of the members wailed during the product testing.

In order to highlight this product’s attributes, an outdoor Ad campaign was launched. Yao Hai decided to make huge banners with those five brand names and put up at Treasure Hill attractions. This Ad campaign has aroused strong repercussions that attracted the curiosity of a large public leading to different feedbacks. Some felt uneasy about seeing such banners in their neighbourhood. Some showed doubts and confusion. Some residents were asking: “Is there a great (political) change in Taiwan?”

Yao Hai attempts to put oneself into a situation where doubts and contradictions are obvious. The change of situation triggers people to think and response.

Freedom Preservation Project comprises three installation works - “I Cannot Prove Treasure Hill Loves You”, “Freedom Preservation Project” and “ I Only Love My Friends”.
