Taipei Artist Village
In Boring Care Project, Yao Hai regarded his 3-month residency studio at the Taipei Artist Village as a private space of which he has long-term permission, created a protected scene that looks like the owner is leaving the space.
For the project, the artist used a large amount of colorful garbage bags to cover all the objects in the room, including furniture, living wares, windows and walls and spontaneously transformed the studio into a fascinated space full of colors. He expects the colorful room to satisfy the large group of audience who like taking photos. However, to meet the need of the audience by using visual stimulation isn’t the main goal that Yao Hai wants to achieve. On the contrary, he wants to capture the extremely daily and boring life experience and reproduce them through this project. He wants to prove how boring this kind of strategy of drawing people’s attention is, at the same time, to show his attitude of doubt toward it.
